A device for collecting a sample of uterine fluids, comprising, i) a central tubing member comprising: a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end has at least one opening and the distal end is closed; and a reservoir for uterine fluid retention, wherein the reservoir is configured to receive and store uterine fluids from a flexible tubing member; ii) the flexible tubing member connected to the central tubing member in a region near the proximal end of the central tubing member, wherein the flexible tubing member is configured to transmit the uterine fluids to the central tubing member; iii) an absorbent member attached along a length of the flexible tubing member, wherein the absorbent member is configured to absorb the uterine fluids from an implant site of the intrauterine device; and iv) an indicator attached near the proximal end of the central tubing member.
